GMT+0, GMT+0 Time zones are different, everyone says "Fixed" in their own language, but I'm still in the midst of a common language. As an intern at Depence Young in Singapore, I breathe the air of the broker. I observe how a simple misunderstanding can destroy multi-million dollar deals, while also observing the importance of trust. When two brokers disagreed on figures, I did what I knew best: visualizing information: I quickly created a spreadsheet. My spreadsheet worked, and the disagreement was resolved. That's when I realized: Building bridges in business isn't always about numbers. Facilitating communication, building empathy, and enabling people to understand each other were crucial. Although numbers were the focus of discussion, I learned to listen in negotiations. I saw how logic and intuition intertwine. At NYU, despite the differences in languages, accents, and ideas, I deeply desire to contribute to global collaboration efforts with what I learned in Singapore and my own values.
