In Grant's TAG article, the elements precipitate according to a specific temperature and differ for each tissue type. Distinguishing this in cross-section is quite difficult because some samples show alternating and abrupt transitions in textures, such as euhedral tissue immediately followed by colloform, then euhedral again, and then suddenly porous. In fact, if we can identify the element groups that provide the ultramafic versus mafic distinction, we will have arguments supporting our case.
